How to get your #RealEstate license...
Ever wondered about starting a new career? Ever considered that career being in Real Estate? Because of the diversity of the housing markets, a wide range of skills or other careers can be easily transitioned over into this business… In the 5 short years that I’ve been in practice I’ve worked in just about every aspect of the Real Estate market…
Here’s the short version: A quick list of all the jobs I’ve performed in Real Estate…
1.       Luxury Real Estate sales agent
2.       Marketing package preparer
3.       Real Estate Auction agent
4.       Property Preservation Coordinator
5.       Short sale listing agent
6.       Foreclosure Attorney Liaison (Loan Servicing Specialist 3)
7.       Acquisition Analyst
8.       Investor Agent Specialist
9.       Short-sale program director
If you have a back ground in sales, education, management etc… You may be a wonderful candidate for Real Estate…
With me, as a small child I was always moving… I often wondered to myself, “What if I could be responsible for finding nice homes for children and families?” Back then, you didn’t see many women of color in the business so it never seemed obtainable to me… Finally after several other career choices and a pending divorce, I packed up for a move to the state capital to realize my dream of becoming a successful Real Estate Broker. The road was not easy by any account but I made passing the 75 hour pre-licensing course my main priority. Before even making the decision to take the class, one must clearly decide on 1 of 2 options: 1. Am I just making a $400 donation to this Real Estate school with no real intention of passing? 2. Am I making a career switch to something that can sustain wealth growth for my family for years to come?
For the sake of knowing that with most people, wasting money is not an option, I am hoping your choice is the latter. If so, here are the rules and regulations on who needs a Real Estate license and what one must do to obtain it.
Who needs a Real Estate license? Think L.L.B.E.A.N.S.
Anyone who Lists, Leases, Buys, Exchanges, Auctions, Negotiates or Sells Real Estate on behalf of someone else must have a valid NC Real Estate license….
How might one go about getting this license?
1.       Locate a school offering the 75 hour broker pre-licensing course/take course & pass
2.       Pass the NC State Board Real Estate licensing exam
3.       Order your official back ground check ( Details found on (http://www.ncrec.gov/)
4.       Submit your application for license along with your criminal background check
5.       Unless character issues are found with your criminal background check, you will be  issued a provisional real estate license and you can find a firm to work for and began practicing immediately… Don’t discouraged if you have character issues, they may deny you and you will have to request a hearing. Unless you used to be a serial rapist or registered sex offender, you will probably receive your license.
